Recommended Mouth Piece Upgrades |

Attached is a list of mouthpiece upgrades that I strongly recommend. One of the reasons for the Wind Ensembles success has been having the band play on matching equipment. These mouthpieces sound better, match sound and pitch better (when everyone plays the same) and are easier to play! They will also be great for high school. I have negotiated special pricing (BELOW RETAIL) from Bellflower Music (562)867-6715. Feel free to call them and state that your student goes to Calle Mayor. They will sell the products at the price below and deliver to Calle. Although you may find these elsewhere, I think this is a great service provided by Bellflower. Although I recommend this equipment for all band members, the mouthpieces etc. below are a requirement for all Wind Ensemble students.

Joining the band in the Fall? Come to the Calle Mayor Band Drive! This is your chance to try out a band instrument! No experience required.
Tuesday, June 8th, 3:30 – 5:00 PM, CMMS Cafeteria
Calle students (and Mr. Nail) will be on hand to demonstrate all band instruments including Tuba, Baritone, Trombone, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, French Horn, Saxophone, Trumpet, Clarinet, Flute, Percussion and many more! This event is for current 5th grade students.
If needed, Rental & purchase information will be available

Congratulations Wind Ensemble: Superior at Festival! |

Congratulations to the Calle Mayor Wind Ensemble for receiving a Superior rating at the annual SCSBOA Festival at the Armstrong Theater. They were the only band to receive straight Superior ratings from all four judges including sight-reading. This is the third year in a row of getting Superiors, and each year is a different set of students and a different set of Judges. I am very proud of these students!
Well done Wind Ensemble! Next is Hawaii and then SCSBOA Regionals (May 7th).
