Tim Nail has been the band and choir director at Calle Mayor for the last nine years. A graduate of Cal State Northridge and USC (Master’s) he majored in trumpet performance. He later received his teaching credential from Cal State Dominguez. His performance background includes playing in many area orchestras including the Santa Monica Symphony, Downey Symphony, Burbank Chamber Orchestra and the West LA Symphony. He also performed with the LA Philharmonic as a substitute musician. Mr. Nail lives in Westchester with his wife Bethany and his son Matt and daughter Gabi.

When Mr. Nail first took over the program at Calle, there were about 50 students in the band program. Today there are over 200 in four different band classes including the area’s only full time jazz band. The choir was literally built from scratch (only 2 had originally signed up!) and now is comprised of 70 singers who put on an annual Spring Musical in addition to their many choir concerts. Mr. Nail is most proud of all of his hard working students, who always strive for the best.
